Young Africans, Azam share spoils in dramatic 2-2 draw

Young Africans and Azam have settled a 2-2 draw in a classic Dar es Salaam Derby match at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in the city.

The hosting side had to roar back twice to level matters with substitute Feisal Salum netting a brace and was surely a game changer for the hosting side.

Azam took the lead in the 24th minute courtesy of a freaking header from Ghanaian defender Daniel Amoah beating Yanga’s goalie Djigui Diarra in the process.

His goal sustained throughout the first forty-five minutes of play only to be answered by Feisal in the 57th minute via a long range strike.

At 1-1, the match was balance but Azam shifted to the second gear until they sourced a second goal through Malickou Ndoye in the 65th minute as Yanga defense was caught napping.

With a 2-1 lead, Azam looked comfortable as they dominated the game but could not keep on guard Feisal whose long range missile in the 77th minute was too powerful for Azam shot-stopper Ali Ahmada, making the scoreboard lead 2-2 until the final whistle sounded.

However, a controversial penalty awarded to Yanga was expertly collected by Azam keeper as he judged well Djuma Shaban who missed his first spot-kick at the club.
