ZANZIBAR: Yas Tanzania has pledged to continue collaborating closely with the Zanzibar government to accelerate the islands’ economic development through advanced digital and telecommunications services.
The company’s Chief Financial Officer, Innocent Rwetabura, made the statement during Iftar event for its customers in Zanzibar.
“Zanzibar is a key part of our mission to unlock digital opportunities for Tanzanians,” he said.
Mr Rwetabura also expressed gratitude to Zanzibar’s customers for their ongoing support and reaffirmed Yas Tanzania’s dedication to providing world-class services tailored to their needs.
“We take immense pride in our loyal customers who have supported us through this transformative journey. Our commitment is to continually improve our services to meet global standards,” he added.
He said the company has expanded its network infrastructure to over 4,000 towers nationwide, ensuring broader coverage and high-speed internet connectivity.
He added, “As we celebrate 100 days of Yas and Mixx by Yas, we’ve received positive feedback from our customers and continue investing in technology and improved services to enhance their experience.”
Yas Tanzania hosted a special Iftar event for its customers in Zanzibar marking the 100-day milestone since the official rebranding from Tigo, TigoZantel and Tigo Pesa to Yas and Mixx by Yas.
The Urban West Regional Commissioner, Mr Idrissa Kitwana Mustafa, who attended the event, praised Yas Tanzania for its significant contribution to Zanzibar’s economic growth through telecommunications and mobile financial services.
He also urged the company to use its platforms to promote peace, particularly as the country approaches the election period.
“Yas Tanzania has demonstrated a strong commitment to serving its customers and the Zanzibar community at large.
However, since this is an election year, I encourage the company to leverage its platforms to advocate for peace, stability, and unity among citizens,” he said.
