Yanga, Simba pay glowing tribute to Mama Karume

DAR ES SALAAM: YOUNG Africans and Simba have joined the sporting fraternity in mourning the death of former Zanzibar First Lady Fatma Karume, who passed away on Monday.

Yanga remembered Mama Fatma for her longstanding contribution to the club, particularly her role in helping secure the land on which its headquarters at Jangwani, Dar es Salaam, stands.

Yanga president Hersi Said described her death as a major loss to the club, remembering her as a wise and dedicated figure who had a deep attachment to the Tanzanian giants.

“This is a massive loss for us. We have lost a great leader filled with wisdom and immense love for our club,” Hersi said.

He said the club would remember Mama Fatma for the many contributions she made to Yanga, including helping secure the land for its headquarters.

“We have lost a true icon of this club,” he said. The club conveyed its condolences to her family, relatives and the wider sporting community as preparations for her burial continue.

Simba also joined the nation in mourning Mama Fatma, extending condolences to her family, relatives and Tanzanians following her death in Zanzibar.

In a statement issued yesterday, Simba expressed sadness over her passing and offered prayers for strength and patience for her family during the period of mourning.

“Simba joins all Tanzanians in mourning this great loss,” the club said.

“We pray that Almighty God grants strength and patience to the family and relatives during this difficult period.”
