Yanga put Gallants under magnifier

YOUNG Africans skipper Bakari Mwamnyeto said they will approach their first leg CAF Confederation Cup semifinal match against Marumo Gallants seriously in order to record voluminous win.

The two teams play at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday before a return leg encounter in South Africa a week later where the overall winner earns a ticket to reach in the finals.

It is the first time for Yanga to play in the semifinals of the Confederation Cup and have already pledged to make it to the finals of the decorated contest.

“Our focus now is on the upcoming important match against Marumo Gallants of which we need to use well the home ground advantage by making sure that we emerge with a massive win.

“We understand that it will be a tough game because even them (Marumo Gallants) are also hunting for an opportunity to sail into the finals hence we have to fully prepare for the duel,” he said.

Commenting on their Premier League status this season, he said they are 99 per cent certain to retain the league title for the second time in a row.

“After winning against Singida, we have remained  with only three points from three matches to successfully defend the championship…and this was our target at the start of the campaign,” he said.

Similarly, the team’s Manager Walter Harrison disclosed that they are set to use available resources well in order to stamp a big win prior to the reverse leg.

“We are too close of making another reputable achievement in the country that is playing in the finals of the confederation cup.

“The most important thing is for our fans to come in big number and be part of history making on the day because their support is essential at this juncture of the competition,” he said.

To reach here, the Jangwani street side produced a 2-0 aggregate win over Rivers United which was enough to drive them to the best four category of the competition.

They won 2-0 at Godswill stadium in Nigeria with Fiston Mayele scoring a brace while the return leg encounter at Benjamin Mkapa arena elapsed goalless.
