Yanga Princess eye strong season start with new additions

DAR ES SALAAM: YOUNG Africans SC have declared that the time for excuses is over for their women’s wing ‘Yanga Princess’ as they are now fully equipped to compete at the highest level.

Yanga’s Media and Communication Manager Ally Kamwe declared yesterday in Dar es Salaam at the club’s house during the official launch of “Wiki ya Mwananchi” (Citizen’s Week), that the club is backing its women’s team with serious investment and expects results this season.

“This season, one of the teams we’ve heavily invested in is the women’s team. We’ve flexed our financial muscles bringing back stars like Precious, Wincate and Mynaco. We’ve also ensured that key players such as Aregash have stayed with us,” Kamwe declared.

Yanga Princess has signed 11 new players, a mix of domestic talent and international experience, rising expectations for a title-challenging campaign.

The new signings include Yasinta Kaluwa, Mynaco (returning star), Ester Kolonely – Goalkeeper, Wincate Kaari – Left-back (from Simba Queens), Ritticia Nabbosa – Midfielder (from Simba Queens), Precious Christopher – Forward (from Simba Queens) and Ogbonna Akudo – Centreback from IFK Kaimal, Sweden.

Others are Angela Michael, Ritha Akarekor, Diana Mnally and Uzoamaka Igwe,This revamped squad is set to build on last season’s performance, where Yanga Princess finished third in the Women’s Premier League with 39 points, just eight points behind archrivals Simba Queens and eventual champions JKT Queens both tied at 47 points, with JKT edging ahead on goal difference.

Meanwhile the highly anticipated ‘Wiki ya Mwananchi’ climax will take place on September 12 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, headlined by a clash between Yanga SC and Bandari FC (Kenya).

The day will also feature exciting curtain-raisers, including Yanga Princess match, giving fans a first look at the new women’s team lineup.

A friendly match between Yanga officials and Tanzanian artists, promising entertainment and community engagement.

Kamwe also unveiled the ticket pricing structure for the event as VVIP 600,000, Royal 300,000, VIP A 50,000, VIP B 30,000, VIP C 15,000, Orange 10,000 and Mzunguko (general seating) 5,000.

As part of the ‘Wiki ya Mwananchi’ celebrations, Yanga SC are promising an unforgettable festival experience.

According to Kamwe, fans can expect the best services ever seen in the country’s sports festivals, including family-friendly amenities, live entertainment and plenty of surprises.
