Yanga ponder Tunis conquest

YOUNG Africans VS Club Africain

YOUNG Africans president Hersi Said has apologised for a barren draw with Club Africain in a CAF Confederation Cup’s play-off first leg match at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday.

In a statement via Yanga TV on Thursday evening, Hersi also disclosed that after the match, they received opinions from the club’s members and fans which are being worked at.

“Your opinions are very important in developing our club. We always listen to what our members and fans are saying about their team in order to push it forward.

“As a club, we should stand firm on enhancing unity and never allow anything to divide us,” he said.

About the upcoming return leg game against Club Africain on Wednesday next week in Tunis, the President called on the Yanga family to continue supporting and motivating players and technical bench to enable them to produce good results.

“We are going to the battle… these international games are tough as such; a team requires immense support to succeed. We request our members and fans to rally behind the players.

“Remember, they are the ones who have made it possible to stamp a 45-game unbeaten run which is not easy to come by,” he remarked.

He further reminded Yanga family that football has sometimes painful results saying that should always pull them together and not apart.

“I still believe that we can get positive results in Tunis and as a management, we will provide anything needed for the return leg match,” he said.

Moreover, Hersi highlighted that the five- day project they conducted in partnership with UNICEF on Covid-19 vaccination and providing awareness on Ebola, has worked according to plan.

“We are an implementing partner of UNICEF projects and in the five-day project, we managed to reach all districts of Dar es Salaam and I am happy to declare that the project went on smoothly.

“Over 5,000 people got Covid-19 vaccine in five days of the campaign…an achievement which UNICEF have hailed us a lot as they have never reached that big number in such a short period,” he said.
