DAR ES SALAAM: YOUNG Africans Head Coach, Miguel Gamondi has said his charges are ready to begin their CAF Champions’ League Group D campaign on a high note as they face CR Belouizdad at the 5 July 1962 Stadium in Algeria today.
Argentine tactician Gamondi made the remarks yesterday as he stressed the importance of winning each game in the CAF Champions’ League group stage, in order to advance to the quarterfinals.
“Our purpose remains the same. Our goal is to collect crucial three points from an away venue. This is football and anything can happen…we are aware that our opponents have the same goal, which is to win the match hence we must work hard to excel.
“As usual, we had time to analyse the games of our opponents they played recently and at least we have an idea of how they play, in terms of our plan you will witness tomorrow(today),” Miguel said.
CR Belouizdad Coach Marcos Paqueta also described his team as a well-prepared side for the match, insisting that they are confident they will secure a win on their home turf.
“We know that our opponents reached the CAF Confederation Cup finals last season, which is clear they are not an easy side.
“Playing at home should give us an advantage, but we must be at our best to outclass them,” he said.
After facing the Algerian side, Yanga will have a tricky home assignment against Al Ahly in their second fixture at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on December 2.
Al Ahly have won the CAF Champions League title 11 times and they are the defending holders of the title.
