Yanga CAF conquest in tatters

ALGERIA: YOUNG Africans Sports Club hopes of progressing in the CAF Champions League have been clouded in great doubt.

Yanga Head Coach, Saed Ramovic stated that the absence of four key players due to injuries cost them dearly in their 2-0 defeat to MC Alger at the July 5 Stadium in Algiers, Algeria on Friday.

The injured players are Dickson Job, Khalid Aucho, Chadrack Boka and Clement Mzize.

In their opening group stage match, Yanga also suffered a 2-0 loss to Al Hilal at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Ramovic made it clear that one of the main reasons for the defeat was the absence of his key players.

“We missed our important players in the team, including Dickson Job, Khalid Aucho, Chadrack Boka and Clement Mzize. It is very difficult for a team to play without its key players.Yes, we have many good players, but these ones are an important part of the team,” Ramovic said.

This marks Yanga’s second consecutive loss in the CAF Champions’ League group stage. Apart from their international fixtures, Yanga have also struggled in the home league. Of the three matches they played before the trip to Algeria, Yanga lost two and won one.

With these two defeats in the group stage of the CAF Champions League, Yanga currently sit at the bottom of Group A without any point.

Their next match will be against TP Mazembe at the TP Mazembe Stadium in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo, on December 14 this year.

Yanga’s Media and Communications Officer, Ali Kamwe, took to Instagram to remind fans that there are still 12 points up for grabs in the group stage. “This one is over, but there are still 12 points to fight for in our group,” Kamwe posted.
