YOUNG Africans said the signing of veteran midfielder Jonas Mkude will help to add value to the team as they prepare for a competitive 2023/24 season.
Yanga paraded the former Simba player on Wednesday night making him the second domestic player to be injected into the squad after Nickson Kibabage.
In his remarks yesterday after witnessing Yanga sealing an exclusive sponsorship package with CRDB of financing the upcoming Wiki ya Wananchi event, the club’s Media and Communication Officer Ali Kamwe said they are thrilled to get Mkude.
“He is one of the best midfielders in the country and without doubt, he is capable to give us what we need in the upcoming season of which we eye to continue achieving more success.
“We are not yet done with the signing exercise and mind you, we have not introduced the much awaited player who is going to put on jersey number 6 and he is set to be paraded next week,” Kamwe said.
Concerning the Wiki ya Mwananchi, he said it is going to be officially launched in Mwanza tomorrow and thereafter, various activities will be done by members and fans towards its climax on July 22nd.
“As we have already announced, we are going to play Kaizer Chiefs of South Africa to wrap up the Mwananchi Day and this is a game of international standard that will help us to weigh our team before the start of next season.
“I think the current squad we have will get real test from Kaizer Chiefs who also have managed to sign good players as they too prepare for a busy next season,” Kamwe said.
He then named entry charges for the big friendly match as 10,000/- for ordinary seats while occupants of VIP C – 2 will pay 20,000/- and those of VIP C – 1 will pay 30,000/-.
Again, tickets for VIP B seats are sold at 40,000/-, VIP A 100,000/-, Royal 300,000/- and VVIP 500,000/- respectively.
“I want to assure our members and fans that what they will experience on the day is worth more than the value of these tickets because many things have been lined up to satisfy their demands,” he said.
Earlier, Yanga’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Andre Mtine encouraged many people to fill Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on July 22nd to be part of the historic day and watch a big encounter.
“It is our hope that the match will enable our technical staff to understand better the squad and sort out some of the challenges which will resurface before next term,” the CEO said.
