DAR ES SALAAM: AZAM FC will today face Young Africans in a highly anticipated Mainland Premier League clash at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam.
This matchup not only features two competitive teams but also carries significant implications for their respective league standings.
In their previous meeting, Azam earned a slim 1-0 victory and will aim to replicate that success, while Young Africans seek to turn the tide.
Currently, Young Africans lead the league with 64 points from 24 matches and are eager to extend their lead over their closest rival Simba, who sit at 57 points from 22 games.
Meanwhile, Azam, third with 51 points, aims to solidify their position ahead of fourth-place Singida Black Stars, who have 50 points. Both coaches are brimming with confidence ahead of this critical match.
Young Africans’ head coach, Miloud Hamdi, emphasised the importance of preparation.

Young Africans’ head coach, Miloud Hamdi, expressed confidence is on winning the match to cement their league command, “Such matches are crucial for us to maintain our lead at the top and we need these points to cement our position in the league,” he noted.
“We have prepared very well, both physically and mentally to face Azam. Azam are one of the best teams in the league with a wealth of experienced players. A win for us would be very important and as a team, we will strive to put on our best performance.” he said.
On the other side, Azam FC’s head coach, Rashid Toussi, is equally determined, knowing that a victory is vital for his side’s quest for a CAF inter-club spot.
“We must win our games to stay in a good position that will enable us to play regional competitions. We have a lot of quality players with different characteristics and I am confident they will perform well against Yanga.” Toussi said
