World Environment Day decorates TADB for backing climate-smart agriculture

DODOMA: THE Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB) has been recognised for its contribution to climate-smart agriculture and environmental sustainability after receiving a prestigious award during the 2026 World Environment Day celebrations.

The award was presented on behalf of President Samia Suluhu Hassan by Vice-President Emmanuel Nchimbi in Dodoma on June 5, 2026.

According to the award citation issued by the Vice-President’s Office, TADB was honoured for its significant role in promoting climate-resilient agriculture, sustainable use of natural resources, and investment in environmentally friendly technologies.

The recognition underscores the bank’s growing contribution to supporting agricultural projects that enhance productivity while helping farmers adapt to the effects of climate change.

Receiving the award on behalf of TADB Managing Director Hawabai Abdulla, bank representatives expressed appreciation to the Vice-President’s Office for the recognition, noting that the award reflects the institution’s commitment to addressing climate change challenges through sustainable agricultural financing.

They said the honour aligns with TADB’s strategic agenda of supporting green investments and strengthening the resilience of Tanzania’s agricultural sector against the impacts of climate change.

The award further highlights the importance of financial institutions in advancing environmental conservation and sustainable development, particularly through investments that promote responsible use of natural resources and climate-friendly technologies in agriculture.
