President Samia Suluhu Hassan has asked ministers attending ongoing African Union Sports Council of Region IV (AUSC Region 4) to grant Tanzania an opportunity to host the organisation’s Secretariat Headquarters.
In her request, President Samia said that the East African Member state is a suitable home for various international organizations and institutions.
“We have all the necessary facilities required for the secretariat and we are ready to go the extra mile in facilitating smooth functioning of this mandate. I, therefore, call upon all Ministers present [at the meeting] to grant positive consideration to our request,” the President stated.
The African Union Sports Council of Region IV is composed of 14 countries namely Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Sudan and South Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia, Djibouti, Mauritius, Madagascar, Comoros and Seychelles.
On the other hand, the Head of State asked the various ministers attending the meeting at the Gran Melia in Arusha to explore the country and see the various parts of creations in it.
“Just to remind the organizers to please spare some time for the delegates to kick around the country and see the art creation gifted to Tanzania and for them to explore what Tanzania can offer to the motherland Africa and to the world at large,” President Samia said.
Earlier on Thursday, Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa submitted the request to members of the council asking them to vote for Tanzania to be the Headquarters of the Council’s Secretariat.
The colorful event was attended by delegates from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Sudan and South Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia, Djibouti, Mauritius, Madagascar, Comoros and Seychelles.
