Why Dr Salim misses his archive inaugural ceremony
DAR ES SALAAM: Dr Salim Ahmed Salim, whose digital archive has been launched in Dar es Salaam today, failed to attend the grand event due to his health condition.
This has been revealed by Minister in the President’s Office – Good Governance and Public Services, George Simbachawene when he was welcoming President Samia Suluhu Hassan to deliver her speech before launching the diplomat’s archive.
“He has not been able to make it due to his health condition,” Mr Simbachawene said.
Apart from President Samia, other notable figures who have attended the event are Vice President Dr Philip Mpango, Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa and former President Jakaya Kikwete.
Dr. Salim is an eminent international diplomat, previously held the esteemed positions of the fifth Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania and the eighth Secretary-General of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) from 1989 to 2001.
