DAR ES SALAAM: THE exceptional preparation, strategic coordination and strong leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan have been hailed as key factors behind the resounding success of the ruling party, Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), in the recent local government elections, where it secured an impressive 99.1 per cent of the seats.
CCM Secretary for Ideology, Publicity and Training Mr Amos Makalla told Journalists yesterday in Dar es Salaam that the party conducted a successful campaign across the country by telling and showing with tangible evidence the implementation of the party’s manifesto.
“We conducted a sevenday campaign and successfully held elections on November 27. CCM has showcased its commitment to running dignified campaigns while strictly adhering to all scheduled timelines,” said Mr Makalla.
Mr Makalla said that the public satisfaction with the effective implementation of CCM election manifesto, ongoing development projects and resolution of various challenges significantly contributed to the party’s victory.
“CCM anticipated the elections and made thorough preparations. We conducted an in-depth assessment of leaders in wards and other local areas, whereas other parties were inadequately prepared, with some absent from public engagement for nearly seven months,” he said.
He further noted that CCM’s secretariat visited 20 regions nationwide, while leaders at the regional, district, ward, village and hamlet levels carried out extensive tours within their respective jurisdictions.

Meanwhile, political analysts also credited Chama Cha Mapinduzi’s (CCM) landslide victory in the 2024 Local Government Election to President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s strong leadership and successful implementation of development projects.
They insisted that the implementation of CCM election manifesto under her leadership has significantly bolstered public trust in the party. CCM achieved a landslide victory in the Local Government Election held on November 27, this year by winning 99.01 per cent of village chairperson positions.
CCM secured victory in a total of 12,150 village chairperson positions out of 12,271 where the elections were conducted. However, the total available positions were 12,280.
Speaking to the Daily News, a Political analyst, Mr Hamidun Maliseli said that President Samia’s leadership has strengthened public trust in CCM, noting her dedication to continuing the development projects initiated by her predecessor, the late Dr John Magufuli, while also launching new initiatives.
“There are key reasons for CCM’s overwhelming victory and one of the most important is President Samia’s leadership. She stepped into the role under the shadow of her predecessor, who had built substantial public trust. Her ability to complete and expand the projects he started has reassured citizens that she is capable of delivering development, which played a crucial role in CCM’s landslide win,” said Mr Maliseli.
He said that President Samia has successfully launched and overseen development projects such as road construction, electrification and school development, all of which have fuelled economic growth.
Moreover, a lawyer-cumpolitical analyst, Mr Yonah Mapury, echoed the sentiments, attributing CCM’s success to the party’s policies and President Samia’s commitment in implementing the party’s election manifesto.
“CCM has demonstrated ability to implement its 2020- 2025 manifesto, this has been a big push to the just ended local government elections. For example, here in Mwanza, the Kigongo-Busisi Bridge is now 90 per cent complete, also the MV Mwanza ferry, capable of carrying over 1,200 passengers is in the final stage of completion.
These projects have demonstrated CCM’s commitment to development and thus earned the party the public trust,” said Mr Mapury.
