DAR ES SALAAM: The national women’s football team Twiga Stars have picked a heavy 3-0 win over Togo in the first leg match of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers.
The game at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam on Thursday has cherished a brace from Opah Clement and an own goal by the visitors.
It is a sound victory as it gives the hosting side an upper hand to qualify for the WAFCON finals.
The country’s envoys eliminated Ivory Coast 4-2 on post match penalties in the first round to qualify for the second round.
Up next, the two teams will meet for re-match in Togo on December 5th and the overall winner progresses to the WAFCON finals slated in Morocco.
