VP eulogises Ndugulile as disciplined leader

DAR ES SALAAAM: VICE-PRESIDENT Dr Philip Mpango has described the late Dr Faustine Ndugulile as a friend and disciplined leader, who was able to effectively defend the interests of the nation.
He said Dr Ndugulile, who was Kigamboni Member of Parliament and World Health Organisation (WHO) Africa Regional Director-Elect, was also a friend to everyone.
Dr Ndugulile passed away in India on November 27 while undergoing treatment, and his body was returned to Tanzania on Friday for burial planned for December 3.
The VP made the remarks when he visited the home of the late Dr Ndugulile, in Kigamboni, Dar es Salaam, to console the family and mourners. Dr Mpango prayed for comfort and strength for all those touched by the demise of Dr Ndugulile.
He expressed gratitude to all people who joined in consoling the family during this difficult time.
He called on Tanzanians to continue supporting one another in various times that arise in the community, including moments of sorrow and joy.
Dr Mpango also stressed the importance of giving thanks to God for the life of Dr Ndugulile. He added that it is essential for Tanzanians to live harmoniously with their relatives and neighbours.
While at the deceased’s residence, the Vice President prayed together with the family, relatives, friends and mourners for the late Ndugulile.
Deputy Speaker Mussa Zungu led the family and other leaders in receiving the body of Dr Ndugulile , including the Minister of State in the President’s Office – Public Service Management and Good Governance, George Simbachawene and the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (Policy, Parliament and Coordination), William Lukuvi, along with District Commissioners, government officials, party leaders and Members of Parliament.

Mr Simbachawene, speaking about Ndugulile, said, “As a political family and as a nation, we have lost an important figure at a critical time for the country.
He was a professional with firm principles about what he believed in. He was unshaken by circumstances and challenges.
We have lost someone significant, who, as a nation, we were set to benefit from in his new role at the World Health Organisation’s Africa Regional Office,” he said.
The late Ndugulile’s body was placed in a special glasspanelled vehicle, draped with the Tanzanian flag and the Parliamentary flag. The late Ndugulile is survived by a wife and two children.
