Vibrant Marafiki festival on offing

A vibrant and colourful stage awaits thousands of music fans at the Village Museum in Dar es Salaam for the fourth edition of the Marafiki Music Festival. There will be about 100 music artists performing during the fourday festival, which begins today.

The festival organisers, Art for Social and Economic Development in Africa (ASEDEVA) explained that the festival will be held in Dar es Salaam and Bagamoyo.

Three days (October 5th, 6th and 7th) of event activities will take place at the Village Museum in Dar es Salaam, while the festival’s climax will take place on Sunday in Bagamoyo.

ASEDEVA Director Isack Abeneko confirmed that during the four-day event 18 bands, and more than 128 artists will perform live.

“Marafiki Festival is an international live music festival that brings together artists from Tanzania and abroad. It aims to entertain and brand artistic works. The event is held annually in October in Dar es Salaam and Bagamoyo.

This festival also brings stakeholders and various art experts to share their experience and knowledge to build artists’ capacity in various fields of art and their creativity,” he said.

In addition, he added, the festival will provide musicians with opportunities to learn from music experts and debate topics that will affect their development. He highlighted a few of the artists who will colour in the fourday event including Dulla Makabila, Amin, Upendo Manase, Damian Soul, Carola Kinasha, Sun Xa’ Experiment and Isack Abeneko.

According to the organisers, tickets are available at an advance price of 10,000/- for one day, and 20,000/- for all three days. In a caution to attendees, 15,000/- will be charged for those who purchase at the door.

The tickets are also available online through the NILIPE APP link https://nilipe.co.tz/app or at ASEDEVA – Kinondoni, Nafasi Art Space – Mikocheni, Firefly Bagamoyo and Alliance Française – Upanga.
