Veteran politician offers advice to the Commission of Inquiry

DAR ES SALAAM:  A veteran politician in the country, Hamad Rashid Mohamed, has offered advice to the Commission of Inquiry into violence during and after the 2025 General Election on strategies to be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future to promote lasting peace and stability in the country.

The former politician from the Alliance for Democratic Change (ADC), who previously served as a Member of Parliament and Zanzibar’s Minister for Health gave the advice during his meeting with the Commission that was held at the offices of the Bank of Tanzania (BoT) in Dar es Salaam, on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the two sides held in-depth discussions on the process that led to the outbreak of the incidents, their impact on people, property, and infrastructure, as well as the challenges that emerged at the time.

The Commission of Inquiry into the breaches of peace surrounding the October 29, 2025 General Election continues with its schedule of engaging various groups, including victims of the incidents, to identify the root causes of the unrest and submit its findings for legal and policy actions.

In accomplishing its duties, the Commission of Inquiry into violence during and after the 2025 General Election has been urging citizens to disregard any attempts to discourage them from submitting opinions, evidence, or information and instead cooperate fully to help uncover the truth surrounding the October 29 incident.

The commission unveiled a road map for implementing its 90-day task, declaring that it will leave no stone unturned in its probe.
