VETA innovations hailed for driving farm productivity

DODOMA: THE Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA) has been commended for developing locally made technologies and products that are helping farmers and livestock keepers increase productivity and accelerate Tanzania’s drive towards achieving Development Vision 2050.

Singida Regional Administrative Secretary, Dr Fatuma Mganga, made the remarks today (August 4,2026) ,after visiting the VETA pavilion at the ongoing National Nanenane Agricultural Exhibition at the Dr John Malecela Grounds in Nzuguni, Dodoma.

She praised VETA for designing practical and affordable technologies that address the needs of farmers and livestock keepers while reducing production costs.

“We have seen how VETA continues to develop machines that simplify work for farmers and livestock keepers. Among them is a livestock feed-mixing machine, which can greatly improve production and benefit many citizens,” she said.

Dr Mganga said wider adoption of such locally manufactured technologies would boost productivity and profitability across the agriculture and livestock sectors.

She urged VETA to continue working closely with farmers, livestock keepers and other end-users to ensure the innovations respond to market demand and support implementation of the country’s long-term development agenda.

“I congratulate VETA for these innovations. They should continue collaborating with users because they are the market. The technologies we have seen today can help Tanzania realise the aspirations of Development Vision 2050, and perhaps even achieve them ahead of schedule, because more citizens will be empowered through locally developed machinery and available financing,” she said.

Dr Mganga also called on VETA to strengthen collaboration with regional, district and local government authorities to connect its technologies with youth groups and other beneficiaries of government economic empowerment programmes.

She noted that many youth groups receiving financial support to implement income-generating projects require affordable machinery and equipment, creating an opportunity for wider adoption of VETA’s innovations.

VETA is participating in this year’s Nanenane exhibition to showcase vocational training opportunities in agriculture and livestock, locally developed technologies that improve productivity, as well as value-addition innovations aimed at expanding markets for agricultural and livestock products.

This year’s exhibition is being held under the theme: “Know Your Market, Increase Productivity and Realise Vision 2050.”
