DAR ES SALAAM: THE Secretary General of CCM’s Youth Wing (UVCCM), Jokate Mwegelo has been appointed as the new Youth Coordinator at the Women’s Academy Fore Africa (WAFA).
WAFA is a regional network that seeks to improve the skills and confidence of women activists from social democratic parties in Africa.
Additinally, Ms Mwegelo will also serve as a Member of the WAFA Executive Committee.
The appointment was made recently (on Tuesday)at the WAFA meeting held in Botswana.
Ms Mwegelo was nominated by the ruling party’s Central Committee of the National Executive Committee (NEC)to participate in the event.
Expressing her gratitude, Ms Mwegelo commended CCM for its continued trust in young people and for nominating her to represent the party at the international gathering.
“This opportunity opens doors for engaging youth in international organisations that have strong ties with both CCM and the government of the United Republic of Tanzania, led by President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan,” she asserted.
In April this year, Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM)’s Central Committee picked Ms Mwegelo as new Secretary General of CCM’s Youth Wing (UVCCM).
WAFA’s mission was to educate women in Africa on the ideology and principles of social democracy and the empowerment of African women with leadership tools to actively participate in all political and electoral processes.
The academy’s leading value is gender equality based on the social democratic and socialist concepts of democracy, good governance, social justice and solidarity.
The institution also entails various programmes that intented to educate women on how to avail themselves for political positions and how they could mobilise resources and raise funds for their political activities.
