US Vice President Kamala Harris has wrapped up her three-day State visit in Tanzania as she proceed to Zambia to complete her mission in Africa.
Vice President Dr Philip Mpango, accompanied by his wife, escorted Harris with her husband to Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA), where they took to Air Force II flight to Lusaka.
The visit has been described as historical one since Kamala is the first female to hold VP post while her host, President Samia Suluhu Hassan, is first female to serve at Tanzania’s highest office.
When she landed in Dar es Salaam, Ms Harris met with President Samia Suluhu Hassan at the State House in Dar es Salaam where the two leaders discussed new areas of cooperation to strengthen ties between the two countries.
Ms Harris also participated in a State Banquet, spoke to young people on innovation and women’s empowerment as well as visiting the National Museum and House of Culture (NMT).
Harris is the latest US government figure to visit African countries, after Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
