Unity A win 8-Side Night Patel Cricket tournament

DAR ES SALAAM: UNITY A won the 8-Side Night Patel Cricket Tournament title with an impressive 25-run victory over Flashnet Cric. Pranthanz in the final match.

The thrilling finale took place on Friday night at the Patel Brotherhood grounds in Dar es Salaam which saw Unity A, the Group A winners, maintaining their unbeaten streak to secure the title.

However, the final was far from easy. Both teams entered the clash unbeaten from their respective group stages.

Flashnet Cric. Pranthanz, the Group B winners, had also gone undefeated in a pool of nine teams.

In the showdown, Unity A batted first, posting a competitive total of 75 runs in their allotted 8 overs. Sanjay Bom and Ashish Kamania were the standout performers, contributing 26 and 22 runs respectively.

In response, Flashnet Cric. Pranthanz could only muster 50 runs before being bowled out, handing the title to Unity A.

The champions were awarded medals and other prizes by the tournament organisers.

Before the final, Unity A secured a close three-wicket victory over FLTC in the semi-finals, while Flashnet Cric. Pranthanz comfortably defeated Hitech Sai by nine wickets to set the thrills showdown.

Tournament coordinator Vishal Patel expressed his satisfaction with the smooth conclusion of the event, which began in September and saw 17 teams competing in two groups (A and B) for the top honour.

In Group A, Unity A dominated with 14 points from seven unbeaten matches in the field of 8 teams, followed by Pakstar A with 12 points from six wins and one loss. Cricket Gunners and SSS rounded out the top four with 8 points each. Other teams in the group included: Patel-A: 6 points, Patel-B: 4 points, Pakstar-B: 4 points and Doshi Eagle: 0 points (seven losses).

Group B was led by Flashnet Cric. Pranthanz, who won all eight of their matches to secure 16 points. FLTC claimed second place with 14 points, while Hitech Sai finished third with 12 points.

Other standings included: Lions: 10 points, Unity B: 7 points and Aurobindo Cric. Pranthanz: 5 points, Indian Brother: 4 points, 3D: 2 points and Friends 11: 2 points.

The tournament aimed to foster camaraderie and promote health and well-being among participants and spectators alike.

Cricket Legends of Tanzania Group have commended Harish, Pinal and Vishal Patel for orchestrating an exciting and highly successful conclusion to the tournament.
