DAR ES SALAAM: UNITY A became the first team to secure a semifinal spot in the 8-Side Night Patel Cricket Tournament with a dominant victory in their quarterfinal match. In the first quarterfinal, held on Tuesday night in Dar es Salaam, Unity A faced off against the Lions.
The Lions batted first, posting a modest total of 44 runs in their allotted 8 overs. Unity A responded confidently, chasing down the target with ease, scoring 50 runs for the loss of just one wicket and sealing a 9-wicket victory. Other exciting quarterfinals followed, providing more entertainment for cricket fans.
At 7:00 pm, Flashnet Cric Pranthanz squared off against SSS, while at 8:00 pm, Pakstar A clashed with Hitech Sai. Cricket Gunners then faced FLTC in the final quarterfinal, scheduled for 9:00 pm.
The tournament continues to captivate cricket enthusiasts in Dar es Salaam, as teams battle fiercely in Groups A and B for a coveted place in the knockout stages.

According to tournament coordinator Vishal Patel, the league has been running smoothly and is now entering its decisive phase.
The tournament, which began in September, is set to conclude this weekend with medals and prizes for the winners. Before the quarterfinal playoffs in Group A, Unity A dominated with 14 points from seven matches, remaining unbeaten as they advanced to the semis.
Pakstar A secured second place with 12 points, winning six matches and losing just one. Cricket Gunners and SSS finished with 8 points each, taking third and fourth place, respectively. In Group A, other teams included Patel-A (6 points), PatelB (4 points), Pakstar-B (4 points) and Doshi Eagle (0 points after seven losses).
Group B saw Flashnet Cric Pranthanz emerge as the standout team, winning all eight of their matches to top the leaderboard with 16 points.
FLTC followed closely with 14 points, while Hitech Sai secured third place with 12 points. Other Group B standings were: Lions (10 points), Unity B (7 points), Aurobindo Cric Pranthanz (5 points), Indian Brother (4 points), 3D (2 points) and Friends 11 (2 points).
As the tournament nears its grand finale, cricket fans eagerly await the remaining matches and the crowning of the 2024 champions.
