Uhuru torch race leader impressed by development projects in Ilemela

THE 2023 Uhuru Torch race leader Abdallah Shaibu has commended development projects implementation pace in Ilemela District, Mwanza Region, while calling on unwavering patriotism among the implementers.

The projects, worth over 1.3bn/-, have been carried out in the just-ended financial year, among others, are the construction of Magomeni-Kirumba road, Ibungilo waste facility, and Nyasaka chicken breeding.

Others are a maternity ward at Buzuruga health centre, a dormitory at Buswelu secondary school for students with special needs, with some amount being allocated in nutrition programmes in the district.

“I commend the efforts.  The government keeps on disbursing the funds for various development projects to smooth the access to all social services, be in health, education and water sectors, to every Tanzanian,” he said.

Equally, he called on residents to support the efforts, including preservation of the projects, for betterments of the current and coming generations.

Ilemela residents, including Mr Salvatory Mulinda, expressed gratitude to the government, saying that almost all social services were available in the district.

The newly-constructed road is also connecting them with various parts of Mwanza region, to smooth social and economic activities, he said.

The District’s Tanzania Rural and Urban Road Agency (TARURA) Manager, Engineer Sobe Makonyo, said the road project, worth 998 m/-, had kicked-off in January this year.

The Uhuru Torch race also launched over 1.1bn/- worth six projects in Ukerewe District, with its District Commissioner Hassan Bomboko assuring smooth and timely implementation.
