Uhuru Torch Race inspects 1.45bn/- projects in Mafia

MAFIA: THE ongoing Uhuru Torch Race has inspected seven infrastructure projects worth 1.45bn/- in Mafia District, Coast Region, aimed at improving social services and boosting the local economy.
Out of the projects, two were inspected, three inaugurated and two had foundation stones laid, with the Torch covering a total distance of 79.1 kilometres.
The Uhuru Torch arrived in Mafia on Wednesday from Kibaha District, where Kibaha District Commissioner, Nickson Simon, handed it over to Mafia District Commissioner, Ms Aziza Mangosongo.
The National Uhuru Torch Race Leader, Wazo Mwango’nda, expressed satisfaction with the implementation of the projects and emphasised the importance of community participation. He also commended residents who donated land for government projects and urged them to safeguard the investments to ensure their durability and achievement of intended goals.
The theme for the 2026 Uhuru Torch is: “Tanzania Belongs to All of Us, Let Us Work Together to Bring Development.”
A total of 68 projects worth 263.1bn/- are set to be visited by the Uhuru Torch Race in Coast Region this year.
