Uhuru Torch Race in Lindi to inaugurate 38 projects worth 15bn/-

LINDI: THE Uhuru Torch Race has officially commenced its run in Lindi Region after arriving from the Coast Region, where it is expected to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for 38 development projects valued at approximately 15bn/-..
The torch was received at the grounds of Somanga Primary School in Kilwa District, in an event attended by government officials and local residents.
During its time in Lindi Region, the Uhuru Torch will cover a distance of 920 kilometers, with 19 projects set for foundation stone laying and another 19 to be officially launched, as part of government efforts to strengthen social services delivery and promote community development.

The torch has already begun its activities in Kilwa District, where the National Leader of the Uhuru Torch Race for this year, Wazo Mwang’onda, urged residents to maintain peace and unity as key drivers of sustainable development in the area.
In Kilwa District, a total of seven projects will be visited, including four that will be inaugurated and three where foundation stones will be laid, in line with ongoing implementation of grassroots development initiatives.
