UDSM continues to benefit from CCCC

DAR ES SALAAM: The University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) has received more than 300 books from the China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) as part of efforts to enhance skills, knowledge, and research among students and researchers at the institution.

The handover ceremony for the books was held yesterday, December 19, 2025, at the university premises and was attended by UDSM leadership, representatives from CCCC, and students.

The donated books cover a wide range of disciplines, including engineering, infrastructure development, science, technology, arts, history, and other fields related to social and economic development.

Through this support, CCCC aims to improve access to educational resources that will help students deepen their academic understanding, conduct productive research, and better prepare for the job market.

Speaking at the event, CCCC Managing Director Li Xuecai said the donation marks the third time the company has provided books to UDSM. He noted that the initiative serves as a bridge to strengthen relations between Tanzania and China, while also promoting cultural exchange between the two countries.

On his part, the Acting Director of Library Services at UDSM, Dr. Collins Kimaryo, expressed gratitude to CCCC for the donation, stating that the books will make a significant contribution to enhancing knowledge among students and researchers.

“These books cover arts, history, science, and technology. They help us fulfill our core responsibility of providing access to diverse publications, expanding the range of journals and books available, and demonstrating the strong cooperation between the University of Dar es Salaam, China, and CCCC,” said Dr. Kimaryo.

Speaking on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, the Director of Research and Publications, Dr. Mathew Senga, said the donation is a continuation of the Chinese government’s long-standing efforts to strengthen cooperation with UDSM.

“We have continued to educate and develop Tanzanian and Chinese students who are interested in learning about culture, language, governance, and economic issues. These books reflect those areas as well as other key sectors of development,” Dr. Senga said.

The University of Dar es Salaam leadership commended CCCC for its spirit of commitment and sustained cooperation with educational institutions in the country. The leadership emphasized that the book donation is crucial in strengthening the university’s libraries and supporting government efforts to improve the quality of higher education, especially at a time when demand for learning materials continues to rise.
