UDOM acts tough on deceitful students

DODOMA: OVER 120 students from the University of Dodoma (UDOM) have been expelled for tampering with exam results (SR2) during the 2023/24 academic year.
In a statement issued by the university’s Communications and Marketing Unit, it was revealed that the cases of 15 students are still under investigation.
The university confirmed that 170 students were initially suspected of the offense, with 148 students undergoing hearings. Two students were found not guilty of the allegations.
It was revealed here that after the discovery of the tampered results, the university established a task force involving computer experts to investigate the claims and submit a report.

Consequently, internal actions were taken, including hearings for the suspects before final decisions were made in accordance with the university’s regulations.
“In line with the University of Dodoma’s procedures, any student dissatisfied with the Senate’s decision is entitled to appeal. Those not satisfied with the decision can follow the clear appeal process set by the university,” the statement explained.
The university also confirmed that the appeal window opens two weeks after exam results are released. Students who miss this period may apply for an extension.
“The university will continue to uphold its procedures, regulations, and examination laws to ensure academic integrity and protect the institution’s reputation, without bias to any individual,” the statement concluded.
