U20: Let music play in Azam vs Mtibwa today
AZAM face Mtibwa Sugar, while Kagera Sugar will host Geita Gold in thrilling U20 Premier League semifinal matches at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam today.
The two fixtures will produce two teams that will battle for this year’s championship and both sides are keen to put hands on the prestigious title.
To reach this far, Azam were heavy winners after defeating Tanzania Prisons 3-1 in a late quarter-final match Wednesday night at the same venue.
Before the game, the Ice Cream makers had gone three matches in the group stage campaign without conceding a goal, but Tanzania Prisons spoiled their clean sheet late yesterday.
For Mtibwa Sugar, they outclassed Coastal Union with a 2-0 win in another entertaining quarter-final clash, enabling the Morogoro-based club to book the last-four meeting against Azam.
On the other hand, Kagera Sugar silenced Dodoma Jiji with a convincing 2-0 victory as Geita Gold beat Mbeya City 2-1 to reach that stage.
The four quarter-final assignments witnessed 11 goals being scored as the young stars showcased their incredible marksmanship by utilising well the created chances.
Meanwhile, Young Africans and Simba ended their campaign during the group stage after succumbing to defeat in all their three matches.
Yanga finished the campaign at the bottom of Group B with one point sourced from one draw after scoring two goals and conceding five in their three back-to-back fixtures.
Their last match ended in a 1-1 draw with Polisi Tanzania, which earned them one point, while they lost in two previous clashes.
For Simba, they also finished at the base of Group D with one point in the bag after conceding three goals and never managed to score a goal.
They lost 2-0 in their last match of group D against Azam to pack their belongings and find a way back home, aiming to do well in the upcoming edition.
