U-23 AFCON QUALIFIERS: Tanzania held by South Sudan

Tanzania have launched their Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 Qualifiers on a slow pace after held to a goalless draw by South Sudan at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam on Friday evening.

The two sides will meet again for the second leg match in Rwanda; where the overall winner will book a ticket of sliding into the second round.

However, today’s outcome is an upset for the country’s envoys who will be compelled to produce an away triumph so as to keep their hopes of progressing further alive.

Though the match was energetic and entertaining to watch, neither of the duo managed to make a breakthrough thereby making the final score elapsing in a balance.

Both sides were able to create encouraging scoring opportunities but could not strike behind other’s net.

The Under-23 AFCON finals will be staged in Morocco next year where qualified teams will battle for the crown.

Egypt are the current champions of the contest who will be played to defend it for the second successive time.
