THE International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has promised to support the Tanzania Volleyball Association’s (TAVA) efforts to develop the game in the country.
TAVA secretary general Laurent Safari who represented Tanzania in the annual congress of the Confederation of Africa Volleyball (CAVB) in Casablanca, Morocco revealed it in Dar es Salaam calling the support a massive boost.
While in Casablanca, Safari said he had an opportunity to exchange ideas with the President of the FIVB Ary Graca on how to effectively develop the game in Tanzania.
“It was a fruitful discussion, among the promises, Graca showed commitment to help Tanzania organise and run competitive volleyball games,” he said.
“I also held talks with the FIVB Technical and Development Head and the FIVB Technical and Development Advisor, they both promised med to help us fulfil our ambition by giving us a needed support,” he added.
Safari stressed after a personal and in-depth discussion on how to help Tanzania in the acquisition of volleyball equipment, infrastructure and expertise, they express their readiness and promised to support countries that need their support to take the game to a high level.
“With other conversations, Graca has also urged us to observe accountability, strong management that follows rules, regulations and also good governance,” he explained.
Safari, however, said TAVA is ready to take the challenge as its leaders are committed to bringing development of the game to Tanzanians.
The TAVA secretary general said also met the President of the CAVB, Mrs Bouchra Hajij at the confederation’s headquarters in the Morocco capital, Rabat who also promised him a full support.
CAVB President was quoted as saying during the climax of the congress: “Over the last two days, we have presented and discussed important compliance and sports issues. We have dealt with the existing challenges including the needs of all our National Federations to equip themselves with the latest tools and techniques to manage their respective federations.
“We have laid significant emphasis through the entry into force of our new constitution Edition 2022.
“Those two consecutive mandates 2020 to 2024 and 2025 to 2028 will bring stability for entrusting me as your president to lead our cherished organisation until 2028 with an option of 4 additional years to fully align with the FIVB.”
