DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA has been selected as one of the 25 countries to participate in the newly launched Lucentum Basketball HUB, an innovative initiative designed to connect basketball clubs, academies, federations and sports-business stakeholders from around the world.
Tanzania Basketball Federation (TBF) President, Michael Kadebe, confirmed to the ‘Daily News’ that Tanzania is one of the 26 member organisations involved in the groundbreaking network that was officially unveiled in Spain recently.
“We are fortunate to be among the federations selected for this initiative and we are committed to leveraging this opportunity to enhance basketball in Tanzania,” Kadebe disclosed.
The Lucentum Basketball HUB is designed to be a central platform for collaboration, education and growth, fostering connections among basketball organisations globally.
It offers members access to resources, such as networking opportunities, professional webinars, workshops led by experts, event collaborations and potential partnerships with companies interested in engaging with the basketball community.
Kadebe emphasised that the HUB’s main goal is to cultivate a global basketball community where knowledge sharing, best practices and strategic partnerships drive both collective and individual success.
“The benefits of this initiative are immense. By sharing their projects, challenges and solutions, members will play a crucial role in shaping the future of basketball,” he noted.

The HUB will also support development of young players and professionals, enhance coaching methods from youth to professional levels, promote community engagement, encourage smart marketing and foster innovation through sports science.
This initiative also aims to create pathways for young athletes for transition into professional basketball, ensuring sustainable growth of the sport worldwide. Coaches and professionals will as well have opportunities to pursue international careers, through connections made within the HUB. e HUB.
The diverse membership includes notable teams and organisations such as Bakken Bears (Denmark), SIG Strasbourg (France), FIT/ONE Würzburg Baskets (Germany), Venados de Mazatlán (Mexico) and many others from across Europe, Asia and Africa.
