TZ Beach soccer players pitch camp today
THE National beach soccer players pitch camp today in Dar es Salaam ahead of the African Beach Games set to kick off in Hammamet, Tunisia from June 24th to 30th this year.
Speaking with ‘Daily News’ in the city, the team’s Head Coach Boniface Pawasa said after completing their off-camp at Coco Beach grounds, players will now have the official residential camp today.
Adding, he said during the previous training, there were a total of 16 players, as of now the same number of players will also be involved in the official camp and after that, 12 players will be trimmed to represent the country in Tunisia.
“The main goal of pitching a camp is to conduct intensive drills to make players fit for the tournament,” he said.
Adding, he said the games will only involve the men’s teams and after they return to Dar es Salaam they will as well introduce the women’s team.
He said besides the listed players who have participated in the first training, others will continue to be part of the camp.
The listed players are Shaban Kado (Ihefu FC), Adam Oseja (free agent) and Ally Haji Juma (JKU, Zanzibar).
Others are Sadiki Salim (Green Warriors), Mtoro Nassoro (Msasani Champions), Ismail Adam (KMC FC), Suleimani Said (Zimamoto, Zanzibar), Abdulrahim Seif and Yahya Haji (Immigration, Zanzibar).
Others are Juma Sultan and Jaruph Rajabu (free players), Goodluck Dickson (Friends Rangers), Stephano Wales (Mburahati), Salum Abdillah (Ilala FC) and Samson Baraka (Tanzania Prisons).
He also called on the youth to participate in the beach games as it creates many employment opportunities.
Recently, the Tanzania Olympic Committee’s Vice President, Henry Tandau, said Tanzania’s beach soccer team is ranked eighth in Africa.
In the inaugural 2019 edition held in Sal, Cape Verde, Senegal emerged the winners after beating Morocco in the final.
Nigeria claimed the bronze medal in the men’s competition, while in the women’s tournament, the hosts’ Cape Verde won the gold medal after defeating Algeria.
