Twiga Bulyanhulu contributes 100m/- to boosts education in Nyang’hwale

GEITA: TWIGA Minerals Corporation’s Bulyanhulu mine has committed 100.99m/- to construct four new classrooms and provide furniture at Kharumwa English-Medium School in Nyang’hwale District, Geita region, aiming to reduce overcrowding and improve the learning environment for students.

The project, launched on April by Barrick in partnership with the government through its Bulyanhulu mine, is expected to be completed today, aiming to reduce overcrowding, improve the learning environment and enhance educational outcomes in the district.

Speaking at the ceremony marking laying of the school’s foundation stone and the reception of the Uhuru Torch, Mr Ismail Ali Ussi, Leader of the Uhuru Torch Race, commended the mine for supporting government efforts to improve citizens’ lives through development projects.

“I commend all experts of the council and the mine for their dedication to ensuring Tanzanians benefit from projects implemented in this district,” Mr Ussi said.

Nyang’hwale District Commissioner, Grace Kingalame, highlighted the importance of maintaining high standards in development projects to meet community needs.

Barrick Bulyanhulu’s Community Relations Officer, Mr Samson Mashala, said the mine would continue working with the government to ensure CSR projects are effectively implemented.

“This project will reduce overcrowding and improve the study environment for students,” he said, adding that the project has reached 85 per cent completion.

Implemented through the force account system, the initiative is set to alleviate classroom shortages, reduce student congestion and create a more conducive learning environment in Nyang’hwale District.
