Turkish specialists conduct a medical camp at BMH hospital in Dodoma.

ANKARA: THE Embassy of Tanzania in Ankara, Türkiye, has successfully coordinated a visit by specialist doctors from Türkiye’s Can Veren Eller organisation, in collaboration with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), to conduct a medical camp at Benjamin Mkapa Hospital (BMH) in Dodoma.

The medical camp began on August 30, 2026, and is ongoing.

The visiting delegation comprises Turkish specialists with expertise in several medical fields, including urology, neurology and neurosurgery, gastroenterology, and spinal disorders. During the camp, patients at BMH have undergone medical examinations as well as major minimally invasive surgical procedures involving the digestive and urinary systems.

The surgeries have been successfully performed through collaboration between specialist doctors from Benjamin Mkapa Hospital and their Turkish counterparts. The joint medical team has, for the first time, successfully carried out major minimally invasive procedures involving the digestive and urinary systems.

Beyond providing specialised medical services, the camp has also contributed to strengthening the skills of BMH healthcare professionals through knowledge sharing and the exchange of clinical experience, supporting the hospital’s efforts to provide quality healthcare services to the public.

The visit forms part of the Tanzania’s Embassy’s  strategy to strengthen health diplomacy between Tanzania and Türkiye. The initiative seeks to expand opportunities for bilateral cooperation in the health sector, particularly in areas such as professional expertise, medical services, equipment, and healthcare technology.
