TTB appoints Oman tourism promoter as Tanzania’s Honorary Tourism Ambassador

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) has officially appointed Omani tourism promoter and travel influencer Khalid Hamed Al Barwani as Tanzania’s Honorary Tourism Ambassador in recognition of his contribution to promoting the country’s tourism attractions on the international stage.
The honorary ambassadorship was presented by TTB Director General Ephraim Mafuru on behalf of the Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, as part of the government’s strategy to strengthen global promotion of Tanzania’s tourism destinations through influential international tourism advocates.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony, Mafuru said Al Barwani had played a significant role in showcasing Tanzania to international audiences through his tourism promotion platforms, making him a deserving recipient of the honorary title.
He noted that Honorary Tourism Ambassadors are an important pillar in expanding Tanzania’s presence in emerging tourism markets and enhancing the country’s competitiveness in the global tourism industry.
Al Barwani gained recognition in Tanzania after leading the Dream Team Explorers on a visit to the Sao Hill Forest Plantation in 2024. During the tour, the team explored the plantation’s scenic landscapes, planted forests, unique natural environment, and the Ruaha River area.
Following the visit, Al Barwani and his delegation praised the beauty of Sao Hill and pledged to continue promoting the destination through their social media channels and international tourism platforms. Their efforts helped increase the visibility of the attraction among international tourism markets.
