Tanzania Standard Newspapers (TSN) Limited and a non-governmental organisation Vijana Connect have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) geared to empower youths through various development opportunities.
Speaking shortly after the signing ceremony held at TSN offices in Samora Avenue in Dar es Salaam on Thursday, the public owned company’s acting Managing Director, Lamau Mpolo said the deal paves the way for begining of constructive debate that will foster positive impact to the youth and society at large.
“We want to build capacity for youth, boost working their morale, patriotism and ensure that they become active in different social development undertakings,” Mr Mpolo said.
Mr Lamau, who is also the TSN’s Director of Business Development, said it necessary for the group to be engaged and participate the country’s development plans.
“We are obliged to ensure that we identify and determine all areas with opportunities that can change youth’s lives, wherever they are in the country…available opportunities from various contracts that the government offers and also purchases,” he added.
On his part the Chairman of Vijana Connect, Hamza Jabir said their desire is to see more youth being involved in development projects and through the agreement youths will be closer and exposed to the projects.
“Many youths in the different areas in country are not able to access opportunities especially those in the regions and that is why we are here today, our fellows (TSN) have a governmental media that delivers information and through them we will also get information and know where there is an opportunity,” Mr Jabir said
However, Mr Jabir said his organization is focused on engaging and lifting youths in various areas including leadership, agriculture and Health.
