TSN commits to brighten 2027 AFCON campaign

DODDMA: PLANS are underway for the Tanzania Standard Newspapers (TSN) Limited to publish special feature stories on the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to boost public awareness and participation ahead of the continental tournament.

The initiative is part of broader efforts by the state-run media house to also educate the public on government plans, policies, strategies and key development projects in order to enhance transparency and public understanding.

Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Paul Makonda, revealed this to parliamentarians in Dodoma today, May 4, 2026,  when presenting the ministry’s 2026/27 budget estimates.

The minister said that to strengthen information dissemination, TSN targets to print and distribute a total of 1,909,752 copies of its newspapers, Daily News and HabariLEO both locally and internationally.

“The company also plans to complete the renovation of a modern digital studio to improve content production quality in line with evolving information and communication technologies,” he said.

Commenting on the digital front, he said that TSN will expand content production and distribution through its Daily News Digital platforms and social media channels as part of efforts to reach wider audiences through modern communication avenues.

He also said that the company plans to enhance human resource capacity by providing short-term training to 130 staff and long-term training to 18 employees to boost skills and service delivery.
