Tree-Planting exercise to decorate Dr Samia’s birthday

ZANZIBAR: President Samia Suluhu Hassan is expected to lead a tree-planting exercise scheduled to take place on January 27, 2026, in the Bungi Kilimo and Kizimkazi areas of Zanzibar, as part of the celebrations marking her birthday.
The information was released today, January 22, 2025, stating that the exercise aims to advance the national agenda on environmental conservation and protection. The agenda includes tree planting, protection of water sources, strengthening natural vegetation, and contributing practically to efforts to address the impacts of climate change.
It was further explained that the exercise will be conducted under the theme “Patriotism is protecting the environment, participate in tree planting,” a slogan intended to promote collective responsibility and provide an opportunity for citizens to take part in protecting and preserving the environment, each according to their position and location, for the sake of life, development, and national security.

In her call, President Samia has urged Tanzanians to continue building a culture of voluntary environmental protection and conservation, emphasizing that environmental protection is a vital foundation for life, development, and national security.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Presidential Communications at State House (Ikulu) has encouraged citizens, institutions, and environmental stakeholders to support President Samia’s vision by advancing the environmental conservation agenda, including planting at least one tree at home, in schools, workplaces, or within community areas.
