TPLB confirms league kickoff date

MAINLAND Premier League Board (TPLB) has confirmed that the 2025/26 Premier League season will begin on September 16th.

In a statement posted on League Board official social media pages, including, TPLB said: “The excitement of the Mainland Premier League for the 2025/2026 season will officially return on 16 September 2025.”

Ahead of the new season clubs have been actively busy in strengthening their squads through transfers and training, aiming to enter the season in top form and ready to compete at a high level.

The previous season concluded on June 26th, with Young Africans SC clinching the league title for a record 31st time.

Their arch-rivals Simba SC finished second, followed by Azam FC on third place and Singida Black Stars on fourth.

As champions, Young Africans will represent Tanzania in the upcoming CAF Champions League alongside Simba, while Azam and Singida Black Stars have secured slots in the CAF Confederation Cup.
