TPC enhances cargo transport

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA Posts Corporation (TPC) in Simiyu region has said the significant improvements made by the government under President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan has enhanced its capacity to transport large cargo.

The improvements have enabled the organisation to acquire larger vehicles, capable of transporting substantial goods such as bales of cotton and livestock for both domestic and international shipping.

Speaking during commemoration of the World Post Day, as part of Customer Service Week, TPC Regional Manager, Mr Sirasi Nyorobi, said that the postal services are currently have a significant capacity for transporting such goods. He noted that through the improvements, the government has provided larger vehicles designed to transporting goods such as cotton and livestock, inviting residents with such cargo to utilise postal services for shipping.

Mr Nyorobi emphasised that Simiyu region is wellknown for its cotton farming and livestock rearing, urging traders of such products to take advantage of the postal service for transportation.

In addition to its shipping capabilities, the organisation has continued to enhance the security of its customers’ goods and improve delivery speed, assuring customers that their cargo will arrive safely.

“Many people are only aware that our services include sending letters and small parcels. However, in Simiyu, we produce a significant amount of cotton and have numerous livestock, and these products have been transported. “Today, we want to inform the residents of Simiyu that we can also transport large consignments such as bales of cotton and livestock. Anyone with such cargo is welcome to come to us and we will ship them safely and at low costs,” he said.

He mentioned that the corporation played a crucial role in transporting all materials used in the recent voters’ registration exercise in the region, noting that the large and numerous items were safely transported using their large vehicles and delivered on time.

Several customers who spoke during the event highlighted their pride in using the postal service for their shipping needs, citing confidentiality and assurance of safe delivery as key benefits. Orida Mwakunja, Acting Manager of TCB Bank, noted that the organisation has been performing well in ensuring the safe and timely arrival of goods, encouraging residents to utilise the service.

Similarly, Mr Tito Mgeyekwa from the Simiyu Region Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), mentioned that the fund frequently ships large goods using the postal service, which consistently ensures safe and timely delivery
