TPBL to begin FVS reporting DAILY to FIFA with Dar Derby

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Dar es Salaam Derby on October 10th will mark the start of Tanzania’s submission of Football Video Support (FVS) reports to FIFA, Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) Chief Executive Officer Cornel Barnabas has said. Barnabas said the move follows Tanzania’s approval by FIFA to become the first league in the world to use the FVS system.

“We will start sending reports to FIFA with the Yanga and Simba match on October 10,” Barnabas said during a press conference in Dar es Salaam yesterday.

The league has 240 matches this season, with 150 selected for FVS reports to be submitted to FIFA. The remaining 90 matches will also use the system, but their reports will be kept by the TPLB. Barnabas said FIFA would monitor how Tanzania uses the system, particularly as other countries seek approval to adopt it.

He said the league would continue working with FIFA to improve its use of the technology and urged all stakeholders to ensure the system is used properly.

“Our league is now at another level because it has a greater international profile and will be watched by many people around the world as the only league using this system,” he said.

Barnabas said Tanzania’s experience could also provide an opportunity for other countries to learn how the FVS system can be implemented. Meanwhile, he urged fans planning to attend the Yanga-Simba derby to buy tickets early, warning that entry would be limited to the stadium’s available seating capacity.

He said every fan would be required to sit in their designated seat and that no additional spectators would be allowed to stand in other areas once all seats were occupied. Barnabas said the ticketing system was expected to be ready by today evening to allow fans to purchase tickets ahead of the derby.
