Top-flight women soccer league set to resume

TANZANIA: THE excitement of the Tanzania Women’s Premier League (TWPL) continues to build as teams gear up for another round of thrilling matches across various venues today.

With the race for maximum points heating up, fans eagerly await the outcomes of the matches, anticipating the best from them.

Amani Queens are set to host Yanga Princess in what promises to be an electrifying showdown at a 4:00 pm showdown at Ilulu Stadium in Lindi.

Meanwhile, Ceasiaa Queens will lock horns with Fountain Gate Princess at Samora Stadium in Iringa, adding to the day’s actionpacked schedule.

At Nyamagana Stadium in Mwanza, Alliance Girls will go head-to-head with Bunda Queens, while JKT Queens take on Geita Queens at Major General Isamuhyo Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Additionally, Baobab Queens are slated for a faceoff against Simba Queens at Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma.

The TWPL champions have the golden opportunity to compete in the CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA qualifiers, with the eventual winner securing a coveted spot in the finals.

Simba Queens and JKT Queens are the only teams from Tanzania to have paraded at the CAF Women’s Champions League finals in 2022 and 2023, respectively, showcasing the growing prowess of women’s football in the country.

Simba Queens lead on the league standings, after securing a narrow 1-0 victory over Ceasiaa Queens on Monday at Samora Stadium in Iringa.

The hard-fought win saw Simba Queens extend their lead at the top of the table, now boasting an impressive 28 points from 10 games played.

Meanwhile, their closest rivals, JKT Queens, maintain their position in second slot after overcoming Bunda Queens with a 2-1 win, accumulating 22 points from their 10 outings.
