TNCC calls for technological tax administration to supports business growth in Tanzania

ARUSHA: TANZANIA’S private sector has called for a modern, fair and transparent tax administration system that uses technology to support business growth while ensuring government revenues increase alongside economic activity.

President of the Tanzania National Chamber of Commerce (TNCC), Vincent Bruno Minja, made the call while representing the private sector at the opening of the 46th Annual CATA Heads of Tax Administrations Meeting and Technical Conference in Arusha.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr Minja said effective tax administration is critical to promoting business, investment and employment, stressing that revenue growth should go hand in hand with the expansion of the private sector.

“Revenue growth and business growth must go hand in hand. A growing economy brings more businesses, more jobs, more investment and ultimately creates a broader and more sustainable taxpayer base,” he said.

The meeting was attended by Vice-President Deogratius John Ndejembi, who was the guest of honour, CATA President Dr Abu Tariq Jamaluddin, Tanzania Revenue Authority Commissioner General CPA Yusuph Juma Mwenda and other leaders.

Moreover, the private sector pledged to continue working with the government and tax authorities to strengthen dialogue, improve the business environment and promote sustainable economic growth.
