DAR ES SALAAM : TANZANIA Ladies Golf Union (TLGU) president Queen Siraki has unveiled the national golf team with four players to compete in the East and Central African Golf Trophy in Kigali Rwanda in October this year.
The national team includes Madina Iddi from Arusha Gymkhana Club who has had brilliant performances in and outside the country for over a decade. Others are Neema Olomi, Vicky Elias, and Hawa Wanyeche.
The tournament will take action from October 30th to November 4th this year in Kigali, Rwanda.
Commenting on the team’s selection, the Chairman of Tanzania Golf Union (TGU), Gilman Kasiga noted that he is sure the golfers will excel for they are among the best in the region.
“Congratulations Madina, Vicky, Hawa, and Neema for being selected to serve the national team. We bank on you to win the title in Rwanda,” he said.
Adding, Kain Mbaya from Lugalo Club said:” Congratulations to you all. From my experience, the job starts now. The team will need financial support good planning and leadership. Without that, we will frustrate them. Remember they have made the team from their own efforts and support from family and friends.”
Meanwhile, the TLGU president commended Vicky Elias for winning this year’s Tanzania Ladies Open Championship at Kili Golf Course in Arusha over the weekend.
“On behalf of TLGU, I would like to compliment Vicky Elias for winning the prestigious Tanzania Ladies Golf Open and TLGU acknowledges good efforts being made by lady golfers at the moment,” she said.
