Dr Saqware emphasised that the awareness campaign will involve regional office staff, government employees, local government leaders and councillors to ensure comprehensive outreach.

Coast Regional Commissioner (RC) Abubakar Kunenge expressed his support for the initiative, agreeing to collaborate on strategies to educate the public about insurance.

He highlighted the region’s rapid growth and the increased need for insurance to protect investments due to the expansion of large and medium-sized industries.

In a related development, TIRA’s delegation met with Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Albert Chalamila, to discuss insurance-related matters.

Dr Saqware requested that TIRA be included in various forums, such as business and local government meetings, to effectively disseminate insurance education.

RC Chalamila urged TIRA to continue its promotional efforts, emphasising the need for clear and practical explanations of insurance to help citizens understand its benefits.

“Using clear language and practical examples will help build a culture of insurance,” RC Chalamila said.

Additionally, TIRA Deputy Commissioner Khadija Said led a delegation to North Unguja, where over seventy local government leaders received training on health, agricultural and other types of insurance.

During her meeting with North Unguja Regional Commissioner Rashid Hadid Rashid and District Commissioner Othman Ally Maulid, Ms Khadija highlighted that TIRA’s mission aligns with the universal health insurance goals set by President Samia Suluhu Hassan and President Hussein Mwinyi of Zanzibar.

“On November 19, 2023, President Samia Suluhu Hassan signed the Health Insurance for All Act No. 13 of 2023, which aims to provide health insurance to every Tanzanian to ensure nationwide access to healthcare services,” Ms Khadija said.

“President Hussein Mwinyi signed the Zanzibar Health Services Fund Act of 2022, both of which are designed to guarantee reliable healthcare through insurance.”

Ms Khadija emphasised the importance of government leaders understanding and promoting insurance to a wider audience.

RC Rashid praised TIRA for its educational efforts and encouraged continued outreach on the benefits of insurance.
