Three golfers earn spot at NCBA Golf Series Finals in Nairobi

DAR ES SALAAM: THREE golfers from Tanzania have earned the honour of representing the nation at the NCBA Golf Series Grand Finale in Nairobi, Kenya, next month, following a competitive tournament held over the weekend at TPDF Lugalo Golf Club in Dar es Salaam.
The event attracted over 140 participants, including top amateur golfers and prominent business leaders from across the country, marking another successful leg of the growing NCBA Golf Series.
The trio heading to Nairobi includes Nsajigwa Mwansasu, a men’s gross winner, who carded 77 strokes, Vicky Elias (women’s gross winner), 74 strokes and handicap 7 Khalid Shemndolwa, a Division A winner with 71 nett.
Speaking during the prize-giving ceremony, Ambassador Major General Wilbard Ibuge, the chief guest, highlighted the broader impact of the tournament.
“The NCBA Golf Series reflects NCBA’s wider commitment to empowering communities and building inclusive platforms,” said Ibuge.
“It offers a unique opportunity for young men and women to engage with changemakers across sectors, while positioning Tanzania as a rising force in regional sports.”
“Today’s winners will proudly carry our flag to Nairobi and their journey stands as a testament to the talent and potential within our country.”

Also addressing the gathering on behalf of NCBA Bank Tanzania on behalf of the Managing Director, Rahim Suleiman, Head of Global Markets, drew parallels between the discipline of golf and the bank’s new campaign, ‘Maisha ni Hesabu’ (Numbers that Matter).
“Today, we witnessed golfers embody the same precision and discipline we encourage in financial decision-making,” Suleiman said.
“Every stroke counts on the golf course, just as every decision matters when shaping our communities and future.”
Since its launch in 2022, the NCBA Golf Series has quickly become one of East Africa’s premier sporting and networking platforms, drawing top talent and offering strategic engagement opportunities across the region.
This year’s edition carried added significance, with the top three winners from Tanzania now preparing to showcase their skills on the regional stage in Nairobi.
“Their participation will shine a spotlight on Tanzanian golfing talent and provide a chance for our nation to be recognised and celebrated internationally,” Suleiman added.
