They stimulate economic growth, Flaviana touts for Made-in-Tanzania products

DAR ES SALAAM: INTERNATIONAL model Flaviana Matata has called on Tanzanians to take pride in locally made products as a way to stimulate the country’s economic growth.

Speaking to media outlets today, April 18, 2026, Matata said that in her role as a brand ambassador, she strongly believes in quality and would not associate her name or image with products that do not meet international standards.

In a move to strengthen its brand, Serengeti Breweries Limited (SBL) has officially appointed Matata as its global ambassador. The partnership aims to align business with a modern, self-reliant, and confident image of Tanzania.

Matata emphasized that the time has come for Tanzania to be recognized as a producer of world-class goods. She noted that such progress is achievable if citizens continue to support high-quality local products.

She added that supporting domestic products helps create employment opportunities for producers, designers, and retailers, while also fostering innovation across various sectors.

Commenting on the launch of a new product, Matata said that a promotional journey to Serengeti National Park forms part of a broader strategy to promote tourism and showcase Tanzania’s pride on the global stage.

Meanwhile, SBL Managing Director Obinna Anyalebechi said local production plays a significant role in the economy by creating jobs, strengthening the value chain, and reducing dependence on imports.

He added that such initiatives also enhance the competitiveness of Tanzanian products in regional and international markets.

SBL has introduced a new beverage, Serengeti Premium Apple — the country’s first locally produced Ready-to-Drink (RTD) product — as part of efforts to promote domestic industries and add value to Tanzanian goods.

The official launch is expected to take place at Serengeti National Park, an event anticipated to attract stakeholders from both within and outside the country.
