ZANZIBAR: The global music powerhouse and Afro-music promoter Trace has announced that it will hold its 2025 edition in Zanzibar.
The stunning live awards ceremony to be held at the Mora Resort aims at celebrating the creativity, trendy, and confidence of African and Afro-inspired music and culture around the world.
The Trace Awards is expected to take place from the 24th to 26th of February next year, in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism in Zanzibar.
Speaking during the launching of the Trace Awards held in the Isle’s on Wednesday, Zanzibar’s Minister for Tourism, Mudrik Soraga said that the award is an opportunity for Zanzibar musicians, creators, entrepreneurs and influencers to be recognised from across Africa and the African diaspora.
“ These Awards is our way of celebrating the impact of musicians and other leaders in the urban cultural landscape in the globe and this with world-class ceremony will highlight the rewards that African artists influence African and global music and art scene. They couldn’t have chosen a better destination,” the minister noted.
On his part, the event Co Founder and CEO of TraceOlivier Laouchez explained their enthusiasm in holding the awards in Zanzibar, noting that it is among their plan of promoting its tourism and culture to the world.
“We are over the moon to stage the Trace Music Awards in Zanzibar as we see the awards as a global celebration of African culture in our this most beautiful country, promoting Zanzibar as a destination for cultural tourism experiences, and hosting world class events.

Zanzibar and Tanzania as a whole will be a great platform for our growing tourism industry to showcase its diverse tourism attractions, which include our cultural heritage, including Stone Town, a World Heritage site,” he stated.
The Trace Awards is expected to feature performances from the biggest African and Afro-descent artists in the world, and will be held in front of 7000 music fans, musicians, influencers, trend-setters and policy makers from Africa and around the globe.
Additionally, the Awards will recognize a broad range of music genres from Afrobeat to Dancehall, Afro-pop, Mbalax, Amapiano, Zouk, Kizomba, Genge, Coupé Décalé, Bongo Flava, Soukous, Gospel, Rap, Kompa, R&B, and Rumba, and saluting artists of diverse cultural/lifestyle categories.
Moreover, the Chief Content, Communications and CSR Officer of Trace Awards, M sValerie Gilles- Alexia noted that The Trace Awards will broadcast live on Trace channels in more than 180 countries around the world.
Furthermore, she said that the choice of Zanzibar was most appropriate to global music lovers.
