The former head of security, Kapilimba, eulogizes John Magufuli
CHATO: Retired Director General of the National Security Department, Dr Modestus Kipilimba, has described the late President Dr John Pombe Magufuli as a tireless leader who worked day and night, inspiring other leaders to maintain dedication in their duties.
Speaking today, March 17, 2026, during the five-year memorial of JPM in Chato, Dr Kipilimba said: “Mama Janeth Magufuli, I thank you very much. When I received the invitation to attend this event, I knew I could not miss it. Truly, the late John Pombe Magufuli was a leader I worked closely with. I learned a great deal from him.”

Dr Kipilimba highlighted that one of the late president’s most remembered qualities was his relentless work ethic: “One thing I will never forget is that he was a tireless worker, always engaged in work day and night. This motivated all of us; often, he would call us late at night to discuss important matters. Indeed, we worked well with him, and the results were impressive, with significant changes witnessed by all of us.”
He also emphasized that the Sixth Phase of the government benefited from JPM’s leadership: “We will never forget the late President John Pombe Joseph Magufuli. He was a friend, a leader, and a role model.”
